Leipzig Airport Train

Train is available at Leipzig Airport to get to both Leipzig and Halle.

From Leipzig Airport it is also possible to connect to other German cities such as Frankfurt, Magdeburg, Hanover, Erfurt, Cologne and Desden as well as Altenburg, Zwickau and other sites in Central Germany.

Location

Leipzig Airport Train Station is located beneath the passenger terminal (Leipzig/Hall Flughafen).

Route

There are a couple of trains available at Leipzig Airport:

S-Bahn

S-Bahn routes S5 and S5X get to Leipzig.

Aside of being the cheapest option, it has more frequencies than IC. It departs every 30 minutes to Leipzig.

IC

IC intercity train route 65 (Emden-Bremen-Hanover-Magdeburg-Halle-Leipzig) and route 55 (Dresden-Leipzig-Magdeburg-Hanover-Bielefeld-Cologne) serve Leipzig Airport and depart every 120 minutes to Halle.

Total trip time to Leipzig (Leipzig Central Station) is 14 minutes and to Halle (Saale and Halle Central Station) is 10 minutes.

Schedule

S5 and S5X lines depart from Leipzig Airport twice per hour.

Please note that IC trains count with more infrequent timetables since they depart every two hours.

S-Bahn

One-way ticket is  around € 4.60 (adults) and € 2.90 (children) for both destinations (Leipzig and Halle).

IC

One-way ticket is around € 6.00 (adults).

Where do I buy my ticket?

Tickets are sold at the ticket machines located in Leipzig Airport Train Station.

Please note that there’s a Deutsche Bahn counter on the concourse on its way to the platform.
